Are you a dog owner in downtown Phoenix? Are you looking for a clean, safe place for your dog to run and play? Join your neighbors in becoming a Friend of the Hance Dog Park! Friends of Hance Dog Park has played an integral role in helping to establish the first downtown dog park in Phoenix. Through our relationship with the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department we have participated in the design of Hance Dog Park and have raised and donated over $10,000 to the City to plant nine 48” boxed trees instead of 36” boxed trees to help provide shade years earlier than would have otherwise been possible, provide expanded concrete pads to enable easier dog park access for handicapped patrons, and add a table in each of the small and large dog parks to provide seating for dog owners and encourage interaction and the development of a sense of community. Friends of Hance Dog Park has “adopted” the park and are committed to keeping Hance Dog Park a safe, clean, and enjoyable place for dogs and their owners.

Volunteer

Friends of Hance Dog Park has “adopted” Hance Dog Park from the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department under the “Adopt-a-Park” program. The City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for overall maintenance of the dog park (including landscape and turf maintenance and watering and maintenance of fences, sidewalks, and other fixtures), but Friends has committed to tidying and helping to keep the park clean. Volunteers will meet on the first Saturday of every month at 8 AM to pick up pet waste and other debris in the dog parks and the common areas immediately around them. Come join us in helping us achieve our mission of keeping Hance Dog Park a safe, clean, and beautiful place for dogs and their owners. See our calendar for additional details. Future initiatives will be posted here as they are put into effect.

If you can’t attend a Saturday clean-up event, please help keep the park clean by picking up pet waste and other debris when you visit the park. If we all pitch in we can keep the park a clean, safe place and enjoyable place for dogs and their owners.
